Assistance will be paid to farmers on SDRF basis

Rupani said, "For this year only, we are replacing PMFBY with Mukhyamantri Kisan Sahay Yojana as the insurance companies have demanded much higher premium from us this time. If we approve their tender, the state government will sell their shares for Rs 4,500." He said the amount demanded by insurers this year was an average of Rs 1,800 crore more than the premium.

The Gujarat Chief Minister said, "Thus, we have decided not to accept tenders for this year and to start this scheme." Neither the state nor the farmers will have to pay any premium this year. In PMFBY, only those farmers get protection cover, but on the contrary, our scheme will provide protection cover to all farmers without paying any premium to the crop. ”

He said the farmer is eligible for compensation of a maximum of four hectares of land. He paid a maximum of Rs. 20,000 will be compensated. He said a farmer would get a maximum of Rs 25,000 per hectare for more than 60 per cent crop loss. Rupani clarified that in addition to the compensation paid under the scheme, people have also been involved in crop damage due to natural calamities.

According to Rupani, apart from the crop insurance scheme, the central government does not have to pay any premium under the new khairi scheme to protect it from natural hazards like drought, excess or current rains during the kharif season. Just for this year, we are replacing PMFBY with CM Kisan Sahay Yojana, as the insurance companies have demanded much higher premium from us this time. If we accept his tender, the state government will sell his shares for Rs. 4,500 crore will have to be paid.

He said the amount demanded by insurance companies this year is more than the average premium of about Rs 1,800 crore. Thus, we have decided not to accept tenders this year and to start this scheme. Neither the state nor the farmers will have to pay any premium this year. In PMFBY, safety cover is given only to those farmers who pay premium, but our scheme, without paying any premium to the crop, will provide protection cover to all farmers.
